Fantastic Indian, go hunting for it, a treasure of a place, surpassed any other Indian I ate in the south island. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Yummy Yummmy food
My husband (who is Indian, btw) and I were hungry after a day of driving from Te Anau to Bluff. So he grabbed my phone and started searching on Trip Advisor to find a place to eat nearby as our stomachs were starting to get a little angry with us! He looked at me and said there's an Indian place that is ranked number 2 in Invercargill. Now his expression was one of mild amusement and slight confusion. Neither of us was quite sure that we could find good Indian food in NZ and let alone Invercargill (we have been living in the North Island for a few years). But, as we were hungry and I was tired of having to be picky with typical Kiwi fare (I am vegetarian, so it gets a bit tough), we decided to give Bombay Palace a try as I knew I could at least get some good varied veg options! Our surprise at this place is understated! The restaurant is located in a beautiful home that has been recently renovated. Just walking into the restaurant was a pleasure! We ordered the Kadhai Paneer and loved it so much that we ordered some for take-away to have when we got hungry again later in the night! Neither of us could have imagined that there would be Indian food this good at the bottom of the world! Both of us would highly recommend trying this place out if you like Indian food and we would come back if we were ever down this way again. The food was good, service good and good ambiance.
Food is great and the atmosphere is even better. The service is friendly and the staff is very welcoming. This little place is totally worth it for authentic food. And the spice level here is very cool anf made to order
Excellent food, attentive staff, and budget-friendly prices. Triple win. Our meals were consistent with other excellent Indian restaurants we've been to. The staff doted on our baby just enough to make us feel special, but not so much as to annoy us. Our bill for dinner was about half what we've grown accustomed to paying at other good restaurants in NZ and a third of what dinner cost at The Rocks (also excellent also in Invercargill)
This restaurant has it all. Warm atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, oh and the food is superb. Overall excellent value for money and it certainly lived up to its high reputation.
